At 11:11 hrs. on Wednesday morning June 13 a civilian aircraft went down in a wooded area in Springfield Township, Burlington County off of Jacksonville – Smithville Road. Companies had a twin engine private plane down in a cluster of trees with (2) souls on board. The aircraft was totally destroyed. Both of the individuals were pronounced deceased by medical personnel on the scene.
Multiple police agencies, Fire Companies, and EMS along with F.A.A. officials along with NTSB personnel who were notified were there for the recovery of the victims and to determine the cause of the crash.
The aircraft had taken off from South Jersey Regional Airport and had filed a plan and was en-route to Hyannis, Massachusetts based on information from the news media at the 1800 hrs. news reports.
Rehab 13 personnel provided hot food and cold beverages for the scene and those supplies were transported to the crash site via police and fire vehicles. We also had our rest room in service for those that did venture up to the rehab sector in the rear of O’Connors Restaurant at 1383 Monmouth Road.
Rehab 13 arrived at 12:10 hrs. and was in service until 1415 hrs. at the scene and returned to the station and were re-supplied by 1530 hrs.
Due to the nature of the crash Rehab 13 did not photograph any of the wreckage and our remote location from the crash site, and respect of the two victims families.
