The Camden County Communications Center received the 1st call reporting a dwelling fire on Carr Lane and dispatched the Dwelling fire box at 1151 hrs. The fire located in the Erial Section of the township went to the “all hands” after the arrival of the first due Chief. The initial report was for a single family wood frame 2 story dwelling with heavy fire on floors 1 and 2. The first arriving company led off and went on an offensive attack. A water supply was established and the initial truck went on scene and opened up and placing ground ladders. The “all hands” was dispatched at 1157 hrs.
The fire had gained major headway prior to arrival of the GTFD fire, and the evacuation signal was sounded due to fear of the the structure collapsing. Once the bulk of the fire was knocked down interior crews re-entered the building to complete extinguishing the fire, perform primary and secondary searches, and overhaul the remainder of the hot spots.
Rehab 13 responded to he scene with (2) apparatus and (4) personnel to provide hydration and light snack foods to the 1st responder’s on the incident. The Rehab 13 rest room was opened as well and cooling towels were provided. Rehab 13 and U1386 operated on the assignment from 1251 hrs, until being released by Command at 1430 hrs. At that time both units returned to station and were restocked by 1530 hrs.
BTW a big THANKS to the members that responded to the response on Christmas day, while many of our staff were at home celebrating the day with family.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported.
