Friday, January 15, 2010 - Joseph Kealey a member of the New Jersey Department of Transpiration's Emergency Service Providers was struck by a motorist and killed in the line of duty on I 76while assisting a motorist earlier this week.
The New Jersey State Police requested Rehab 13 for the assist and we responded on Friday morning to the St Lawrence Church campus to provide support for the viewing and funeral mass and all of the Police, DOT, EMS, Fire, and civilian attendees.
Hot food, bagels, hot and cold beverages, snack foods, rest room facilities, and a seating area were provided for the 300 persons that attended the funeral to pay their last respects to Joseph Kealey and his family and friends.
The viewing and funeral were well attended which is a tribute to the man who was liked by everyone he came in contact with. The Deer Park Fire Co. wishes to express their deepest sympathy to the family, friends, and co-workers at this time.
Rehab 13 was released after the conclusion of the Mass of Christian Burial at 1330 hrs and returned to station.
