The busy month of July 2018 for Rehab 13 continued this morning with another “all hands” fire on Park Blvd. near the armory for the building housing the Camden County Municipal Utilities Authority pumping station at that location. Responding units could see a column of heavy black smoke as they responded to the scene. Arriving units were ordered to lead off with a 2 1/2″ attack line while the truck company forced entry into the building for an offensive attack on the fire. A water supply was established and units made good progress locating and knocking down the bulk of the fire.
Rehab 13 was dispatched at 1166 hrs. and responded to the incident for personnel report on another hot day during this month. Upon arrival Rehab set up a rest and recovery area by deploying (2) EZ Up shelters and set up (8) folding chairs for EMS monitoring of the firefighters. Rehab 13 distributed a total of (77) MVP, (96) bottles of water, (18) Sqwinchers frozen electrolyte replacement popsicles, (16) cheeseburgers, (20) honey mustard chicken sandwiches, and numerous snack foods were supplied. Rehab opened the rest room, and supplied (43) cooling cotton towels, and set-up one cooling mister in the rest and recovery area. Rehab 13 was in service at the incident from 1139 hrs. until released by 1300 at 1445 hrs. Rehab was ready for service by 1600 hrs.
The fire is under investigation by the local FM and Camden County Fire Marshal for origin and cause of the fire. Although there was a lot of damage to piping (PVC) the pumps in the station stayed on line.
