On September 29, 2018 the technicians at Custom Mobile Foods of Hammonton, NJ completed the final stages of upgrades 14 year old primary apparatus to better serve the 1st Responder’s that we serve at the incidents that we respond to during our service as a rehab unit at emergency and non-emergency scenes all over south Jersey.
Our response areas have included Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, Atlantic, Ocean, and Salem counties since organizing Rehab 13 in 2004 after the consolidation of the fire districts in January 1994. We have now responded to over 80 different towns throughout the South Jersey area to provide our services on emergency and non-emergency incidents when called on for all 1st Responder’s and civilians at a call.
After more than 750 runs we were wearing some of the vital equipment on board and a plan was drawn up to replace some of that equipment and to add to our capability to prepare hot foods at these locations and to give us more capacity to make the foods at a faster pace to keep up with the demands faced at large incidents.
We believe that we have accomplished that with the additions to Rehab 13 (1385) and the photos attached to this story will outline the changes made to better serve all of our departments in our response area (South Jersey).
Here are the changes made in writing:
New coffee makers – new hot dog grill (chrome), (3) new microwaves (2) 1100 watt, (1) 1250 watt, rear area tow new shelves for work space and storage, and a new stainless steel door on the right rear compartment for char storage – with gas pressure cylinder to hold the door up, and one new outlet on the interior rear for the 1250 watt microwave in the rear work area. The two rear seats (fold down) were eliminated.
Take a look at the accompanying photos for a view of the new equipment making Rehab 13 crews more efficient at “Serving Those Who Serve.”
Our thanks go out to Lynne Sikora and Bill Sikora and their entire staff for the work done on our 1st out truck built by Custom Mobile Foods in 2003-2004.
Custom also built our Rehab Support vehicle 1386, which was delivered in 2014. We also have to mention the great relationship that we have had with Custom and their staff since 2003. That relationship made choosing Custom for our Rehab Support Vehicle in 2013 an easy decision.
Rehab 13 and its Officers and members look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship with Custom Mobile Foods.
