Our good friend and brother firefighter Gene Dannenfelser lost his courageous battle to lung cancer on November 8, 2017 with his family surrounding him. Gene was truly a gift to the fire service and he will be sorely missed by all that knew him.
Our condolences go out to his immediate family and to the members of the fire service that worked alongside Gene when he was a Camden County Fire Marshal and all the organizations that he was involved with after his retirement from Camden County. We here at the Deer Park Fire Company remember Gene for all the good investigative work he did here in our fire district, and later for the Cherry Hill Fire Department. He was a joy to work with and always had a smile or a joke to tell to all to keep the work at hand bearable with the kinds of loss and tragedy that we come into contact with during our time in the fire service.
We have lost a truly dedicated member of the Fire Service way too young.
Gene, we thank you for your time and influence and wish your family the the best, as the days go by without him.
You may not be here anymore but your spirit and dedication to serve – will never be forgotten.
