At 0526 hrs. this morning January 11, 2018 the 2nd call of the early morning was dispatched by Camden County radio to respond to the staging area at Timber Creek Regional High School to relieve Rehab 2. The incident was for a barricaded suspect that had fired at police and as the incident developed more shots were fire by the individual at police including the armored vehicle used by the Gloucester Township to approach the suspect to try to get the individual to surrender peacefully. Command units from Camden County Communications and OEM 3 were on scene as well as GTPD assets including their Command Unit and township bus for shelter.
More detailed information has been released by the local news outlets so this narrative will not provide any further details on how the event came to a close.
Rehab 13 responded with (2) apparatus and (4) crew members to provide personnel support and a rest and recovery area as well as the on board rest room for the 1st Responder’s on the scene. Hot and cold beverages, hot food, and snack foods were prepared and distributed for all at the scene which started at 2100 hrs. on Wednesday night. At this time the crew had just returned homer after the Berlin run and no one had any sleep prior to this call. Rehab 13 provided scene support from 0612 hrs. until 1008 hrs. and returned to station to re-supply and clean up all apparatus and were ready for service by 1130 hrs. and were assisted by the incoming day shift at the station.
