On Thursday morning Rehab 13 and U 1386 traveled to fire department headquarters in supporof a multi-agency technical rescue exercise utilizing the recently declared strcturally defiecient 2 story training building located on the site to the rear of Central Command on Marlkress Road.
Companies attending the exercise included the Camden Fire Department, Collingswood Fire Department, Mount Laurel Fire Department, and the host department Cherry Hill Fire District #13.
W. Hargrove demolition prepared the building for the exercise and the companies went through all of the evolutions pertaining to operating and securing a building during a collapse.
The (2) story training and burn buiding which served the fire departments in the area was built around 1989 and was recently declared unsafe after cracks were observed in many places. Once the activities are completed the building will be razed to amke way for a new training/burn buiding and (5) story training tower to replace the old one.
Rehab 13 provided the Zumro tent with heater for the duration. The tent was used for warming, EMS evaulation, and for food and beverage for the duration of the 8.5 hour exercise. Hot liquids and snack food were provided along with the tent and rest room.
Rehab 13 was in service from 0835 hrs. until 1630 hrs. and returned to station to re-supply. At 1700 hrs. were ready for the next response.
The next exercise will be on Monday February 23, 2015. With a third possible exercise next week based on weather.
