This morning at Central Command the 7th annual commemoration for the victims of the 9/11/2001 attack on the United States was recognized in a joint agency memorial at fire headquarters. Members of Cherry Hill Township government, Cherry Hill Fire District Fire Commissioners, Cherry Hill Police, Fire, and EMS, as well as civilians from the community were in attendance.
Remarks by Assistant Fire Chief K. Baum, and Mayor Chuck Cahn were made first to remember all those that lost their lives that horrible day in New York City, Shanksville, PA, and at the Pentagon during the terrorist attack that occurred that morning. Further to that Mayor Cahn asked us all to keep in our hearts and minds all of our military personnel that have lost their lives in battle since this ugly day in the effort to combat terrorist organizations across the globe.
Later, the detail was dismissed outside to the 9/11 Memorial for the placement of a memorial wreath by Cherry Hill Police and Cherry Hill Fire members. All members were called to attention and gave a crisp hand salute as the drummer and bagpiper played a song of remembrance and faded into the distance.
The turnout was impressive and the memorial program was well done.
MAY WE NEVER FORGET.
