Rehab 13 was dispatched to the 100 block of White Horse Road at 0317 hrs. on the “all hands” fire on White Horse Road for personnel support on a strip mall fire located at this address. First arriving companies had a multi-unit wood truss roof with heavy fire showing from the rear of this multi-use shopping center. The “all hands” was requested bringing additional companies from surrounding departments. Multiple lines were stretched, water supply established as the suppression efforts were initiated.
Voorhee’s Command requested Rehab 13 to respond and sent Rehab 13 and U1386 with (6) personnel to the scene. Upon arrival at 0349 hrs. Rehab 13 set up on White Horse Road and provided liquids, hot food , snack foods, a rest room, and cooling with towels and water. Rehab 13 was in service at the incident until 0528 hrs, and prepared and served the following: (34) MVP, (24) bottles of water, (2) pots of coffee, (12) breakfast sandwiches, snack foods, (1/2 dozen cooling towels), (1) table, and folding chairs. rehab 13 was back in sevirce by 0600 hrs.
The fire appears to have started in rear (C Side) of one of the stores and was able to spread due to the wood truss roof construction. The origin and cause were under investigation by County and local investigators.
