Around 1824 hrs. on Friday night Camden County Fire Communications received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a head on crash at the intersection of the White Horse Pike and Cuthbert Blvd. Arriving units located the crash 1/4 east of Cuthbert Blvd. at Capitol Avenue. First due fire end EMS units found a (2) vehicle head on crash at a high rate of speed with entrapment and fire under the hood of the red vehicle. Multiple fire, EMS, and Medics were called to the scene to handle the multiple trauma alert injuries that were found. All occupants were removed and transported to Cooper Hospital trauma center. All companies were placed in service.
At 1929 hrs. Fire Command requested Rehab 13 for scene support for police, fire, and other 1st Responders working the scene for the accident investigation and the removal of the vehicles.
Rehab 13 was on scene for over (2) hours and provided hot liquids, hot food, light snacks, and a rest room for the duration of the incident. The (2) vehicles hit so hard that they needed two winches to free the vehicles from each other. Rehab 13 left the scene at 2230 hrs. when the cars were separated and removed from the highway.
The crash is under investigation by local, county, and state police authorities.
